Greetings from Health for Haiti! We are happy to report that the necessary repairs were completed and school has reopened in Grande Saline!
Thank you for your donations in response to the devastating flooding in Grande Saline. As a result of your generosity, thirty families received emergency food assistance, our students and teachers received school supplies (bag, notebooks, pens, pencils, ruler, eraser, etc), and one hundred and fifty students were able to return to school. School activities have now resumed in functional and safe classrooms!

We are also happy to report that the rice harvest is underway. We are so grateful that our gardens survived the floods, many other farmers in the area were not as lucky. The rice will be stored in the school kitchen building and will be used to provide lunches for the students and teachers. We doubled the size of our community gardens this year so this is quite a bountiful harvest.

We are still dealing with some issues at the water system but things are definitely moving in a positive direction. Thank again for the generous support from our community to help with recovery from the devastating floods.
Finally, please consider joining us at our third Taste of Haiti dinner. This is a chance to enjoy some great food and music, bid on raffle items, celebrate Haitian culture, and help to support Health for Haiti’s work to provide safe drinking water, combat food insecurity, and bring high quality education to rural Haiti. Please consider joining us on Saturday, November 22 at 6pm in the SUNY Broome Dining Hall. Email Jen: musajm@sunybroome.edu to reserve tickets. They are $15 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Have some delicious food and some fun and support a great cause. We hope to see you there!

Thank you from Health for Haiti!
